- Understand slave laws in Pennsylvania in the antebellum period and assess their implications for the free black, slave, and general populations of Philadelphia.
- Identify important terms and key figures in Pennsylvania’s Underground Railroad.
- Assess the operations of the Vigilant Committee and compare its role to that of the Pennsylvania Abolition Society.
