For a pre-paid fee, a skilled staff researcher will investigate and respond to your request utilizing sources available in our library and archival collections. The fee includes the cost of up to twenty (20) photocopied pages of supporting documents.
While we cannot guarantee results, we will make every effort to help you by documenting all sources consulted during the research. Frequently, our researchers will indicate if additional research time would be worthwhile, and note potential resources and facilities which may further your research endeavor.
Research Request Options
By the Hour
All hourly research requests must be submitted in writing and include payment. An initial research period of 1-2 hours is recommended.

Exact Citation
With an exact citation, we can provide photocopied pages at a pre-paid fee of $10.00 plus $0.50 per page. An additional service fee applies for orders of more than 50 pages. A publication citation includes title, author, publication date, and page number(s). Manuscript letters (estimated at three pages per letter) and other original documents require author or correspondents, date, and collection references. An additional shipping fee may apply.

Structuring Your Query
In order to maximize the potential results of your request, please keep the following suggestions in mind as you prepare your query.
Directed Research
Be sure to clearly define the scope of your query. For example, please provide specific names, dates, locations, etc. (when known). Keep in mind that our collections emphasize Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware history and genealogy.
Research Objectives
It is important that you explicitly state your intended research objectives. Essentially, what do you know and what do you want to find out?
Prior Sources
In an effort to prevent repetitive research, please be sure to indicate in your letter the sources that you have already consulted during the course of previous research.
Submitting Research by Mail Requests
To initiate research, please complete and submit the payment form. A response will be sent 6 to 8 weeks from receipt of your payment. Don't forget to inlude your e-mail address and phone number, in case we have any follow-up questions for you.
