The HSP Online Public Access Catalog is an electronic database in which researchers can search by title, author, and subject for:
- books, pamphlets, and works on microfilm
- serial titles (including some serials in the Balch Institute collections)
- some newspaper titles from the HSP and Balch collections
- assembled genealogical collections
- Philadelphia Record photograph morgue images
- Campbell scrapbook collection images (most print and photo indexes on-site only)
- collection-level records for manuscript collections with links to online finding aids
MANX
The Manuscript and Archive Information Exchange, or MANX, is based on the Guide to the Manuscript Collections of The Historical Society of Pennsylvania and any corrections and updates made since its 1991 publication date, including addition of entries for the holdings of The Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies. Like the published guide, MANX is arranged by collection number, and each entry includes a brief synopsis of the content, an indication of the dates of material included, and the size of the collection, as well as links to online finding aids.
